Trying to Slim Down...

Bonjour Angels,

I have been trying for what seems like an eternity to slim down, become fitter and be more toned. This, however is harder than you may think; or if you have, indeed, travelled down this same challenging path with the same end goals sometime in your life, then I am 99.9% positive that you will all agree with me in saying how hard it is! I started out with buckets full of determination and willingness. Who knew it was so easy to forget your goals and drift away from the 'right path', if you will. I certainly did not, when I first began.

I follow the basic ideas and rules of the 'Slimming World' plan, although not to the extent where I go to meetings and such like. My Mom used to go to the meetings and I picked up a few handy snippets of advice from her so I just go off that.
I have been at it for over a year now, although I am not sure if Christmas and holidays suggest a new start, or if you simply carry onwards and try to shed the many Mars bars one has managed to stuff in. So far I have actually enjoyed it (peculiar, I know!). At first, in the initial few weeks, I did find it very hard and it was a real effort every time my eyes drifted toward a slice of delicious-looking cake or some heavenly bar of chocolate. However, after a month or so of actually getting results and being seemingly closer to my 'final destination', I just wanted more and I wanted to keep going!

All the above pictures were lovingly magpied from Pinterest. Original source unknown.
My 'I will look good in that bikini' Motivation Board. This is determination.

Mainly, I want:

  • Toned muscles
  • A slim tummy
  • To feel light and energetic
  • To feel confident
  • To lose all that extra flab

So, little angels, this is my 'journey' so far. I would be simply delighted if I have boosted even the slightest spurt of energy and motivation into you all, which hopefully I have...
What do you think? Am I doing it right, as this is a very contraversiol question, indeed. I believe I am doing it smashingly well as it seems to be working for my body, although, how do you go about melting off those extra few lumps and bumps? I am absolutly, very interested to know your opinions.

Lots of love,

  1. Amazing! I'm so proud of you, aw aw aw!☆ By the way, how tall are you?:) I'm 160cm and my goal is to go from 60.5kg to 52 - 50kg!^^ Aside from wanting to weigh less, I want to improve my fitness and flexibility. I only drink water. I eat meals that are high in protein and carbohydrates, and low in fat. I also rarely eat red meat and have banned myself from 'sauces' such as ketchup, mayonnaise, salad cream, branston pickle, and gravy. I find that if I stick to the same meals, I don't have cravings for other foods.

Example foods I eat very regularly are: scrambled egg with milk; banana on white toast; eggy white rice; white pasta with tuna and sweetcorn; chicken salad containing red and yellow bell peppers, cress, cucumber, a boiled egg; and chicken curry with white rice. I try to eat 2 nectarine oranges before all of my meals. I eat 3 small meals a day alongside a snack of fruit if I feel the need. I don't eat after 6pm. I try to get wake, sleep and get roughly 8-9hours of sleep per night, all the time.

I have the biggest sweet tooth, but I'm slowly parting from chocolate and sweets as the less I eat of them, the less I'll crave, right?Haha. I want to incorporate salmon, yogurt, lemon, pineapple, and possibly, cheese, cherries, and berries into my diet soon. I also want to get back into the habit of stretching in the morning. I want to start doing star jumps and sit ups, too. And to get use out of my old hula hoops. Regarding my exercise now, I've planned myself 6 routes to walk with my dog - which I do daily. Route No.1 is 1.6miles, No.2 is 3.3miles, No.3 is 4.4miles, No.4 is 6.2miles, No.5 is 6.7miles, and No.6 is 7.8miles. I walk route 1, and 4 the most often: route 1 once or twice per day, 6 days a week; and route 4 once a week. If I have more time to spare, I'll switch route 1 for route 2, and route 4 for route 5. Route 3 and 6 are my least taken walks. When my speed and fitness improve, I'll add leg weights to push myself more. For my arms, I'm planning on getting use out of my local park and have a go at the monkey bars.

Hope my methods and plans gave you some inspiration!^^ My only way of giving you advice was to give you the full story, haha! Soon, I'll make my own 'Motivation board', just as you've done. :D XX

    1. Thank you so much for this! I found it really interesting and it was exactly what I needed to know! At least now I know I am not the only one, haha! I think I will soon be doing a post on meals I regularly eat, with maybe a cheeky meal planner thrown in, so the meals that you said you eat regularly were really useful. Thanks! You also mentioned that you try to stick to eating roughly the same foods so that you don't get a craving for others. I am not entirely sure if this is only how my body works, however I try to vary my meals as much as possible so that my body doesn't get used to certain foods and then not drop any of the weight.

I don't really do much exercise at the moment although I have charted up a nifty little 'workout plan', if you will; and I might, if I manage to stick to it, do another blog post on that whole side of things. I definitely think I will also make use of my local park. I didn't think about that so thank you for the idea!

I'm glad you like the motivation board and it makes me extremely happy that I have inspired you to make one of your own! We can be healthy buddies now, haha! :) xx

    2. Great, yes, I'd love to read both of those post ideas!^^ Yeah, I thought of eating varied foods for the same reason, but my body has taken to sticking to roughly the same meals with a small variety. Maybe, I'll switch to lots of variety once my body doesn't agree with my method now. :D

Yay! Haha, sure, healthy buddies! :P
Ah, you forgot to mention: how tall are you?:)
