Biker Jacket Aesthetic

I have been wearing my cream biker jacket in pleather (is that what the youths are calling it) so much more lately and so when Vogue did this article on why the biker jacket would always be a staple piece in a wardrobe, I literally fell of my chair. In excitement. Biker jackets have always definitely been an 'in' thing but have had a recent peak in popularity.
'Biker jackets were ubiquitous on the spring/summer 2016 catwalks, too. At Saint Laurent they were white and scuffed and worn with lace mini dresses; at Burberry they were more polished: black, cropped and with gold hardware trimmings. Coach debuted chiffon, printed and floral styles, while Vetements set the front row raving over a multicoloured motocross style worn open and with matching leather trousers. At Courreges they were cropped and in crinkly patent or punctuated with bright cut-outs of leather; meanwhile Louis Vuitton was a biker bonanza - the first look was a bubblegum pink iteration, and it was followed by spray-painted, studded and belted versions, some sporting striped or monogrammed sleeves.' - Vogue
Why I Am Loving The Biker Jacket This Season
  • They are great for layering and adding dimension to any outfit
  • They add edge and roughen up a perfectly girly outfit
  • The huge variety in styles allows for a fitted, body-hugging and smart look; a very casual street style; something rock and roll from the 80's; something vintage and very 60's
  • They make a very simple outfit look stylish and creative
  • They are surprisingly warm
  • The range of colours available keep the jacket fresh for spring or summer
  • Black is great for spring, too
