(80's Inspired) Pink Bomber Jacket + Jeans

If someone asked me to create an outfit that wholeheartedly represented me and my style, I would wear something like this.

Sports Luxe: Trending

Hoodies, sweatshirts, fleeces, baseball caps, silky jogger pants, sneakers, trainers, bubble jackets, anoraks, bomber jackets, gym pants. Has there ever been a more perfect excuse to mix comfort and fashion?

Summer Beach Outfit '16

I've celebrated off-the-shoulder tops, one-shoulder tops, spaghetti strap tops, polonecks, Peter Pan collar blouses - all through a range of years with a range of different personalities. I celebrated the tie back halter top this summer - if that's what we're calling it.

How To Personify A Palm Tree In Summer (Outfit)

Does green and neutrals + a wicker basket make me look like a plant? Voting opens now.

Blue Floral Midi Dress (Outfit)

Writing this post is like writing an essay the night (read: half hour) before it's due in: you've forgotten everything relevant, you have distant memories that something fun happened around that time and you're life is basically falling apart.

Should I Buy This?

Gretchen: Well, I mean you wouldn't buy a skirt without asking your friends first if it looks good on you.
Cady: I wouldn't?
Gretchen: Right.

So currently on my unofficial mental 'list' of things I want to buy, I have: an oversized black hoodie, a grey chunky knit, straight leg jeans black skinny jeans, a Christmas party outfit and pink pom-pom earrings (bought). I haven't found the black oversized hoodie or Christmas outfit yet, but everything else has been selected and I'm ready to order.

I prefer to buy clothes online rather than go shopping in store, purely because of the greater variety. Pros: all the choices; cons: serious returning stress. Someone once said (I think it was Oprah), that you shouldn't buy anything unless you've spent two weeks thinking about it. I try to use this as a loose motto to follow - it usually works. I also like to only buy things if I have a specific outfit that I want to buy it for - i.e. if I am looking through my wardrobe and realise that several outfits would look much better with more feminine shoes, then I would start looking for a pair of more feminine shoes (another reason why buying online is preferred). I find that physically going shopping is more of an activity or a day trip and less of a way to productively get something you specifically need.

Back-To-School 80's Style Casual Outfit

I have now done the full circle of maniacal college dressing: the way-too-over-dressed (but let's consolidate ourselves with Oscar Wilde's iconic quote: you can never be too overdressed or overeducated), the gym pants ensemble, the thrown-together leftover mix-matched clothing outfit, the trendy number and the I've-taken-this-trend-too-far look. Full circle.

Magpying Vogue: Best SS17 Fashion Month Street Style

Rosie Assoulin SS17

Rosie Assoulin - the brand, and the outfits - is, in my opinion, the perfect example of fash-UN repelling, without too much of the repelling.

Her style is what you would aspire to wear on a first date, if you so happened to desperately want to wear those new khaki oversized cotton belted not-Dad-style chinos; and yet still wanted to look and feel flattered and appear somewhat feminine and sexy, but still intriguing, with a sense of creativity and tbh - letting the other person know what they're in for. *pause for a breathe because that was all one sentence*

Not to copy Vogue, but I've selected my favourite Rosie Assoulin outfits and given you a typed commentary, with complimentary post-gym semi-lucid thoughts.

Accessorising A Swimsuit In Delray Beach

Accessorising a bikini top + sarong in the hopes that people will take it as a summer wedding guest what-should-I-wear guide. Or you could wear a bikini to a business meeting (someone test trial this and let me know...).

Blair Waldorf Is Giving Me Life Envy

I would much rather be the Queen B of Manhattan, dishing out very adverse but soundly accurate life advice, wearing couture to feed ducks and eating green grapes with the most vigour; than probably just about anything else.

In Defence Of Culotte Dungarees

I have embarked on a skinny jeans-free summer. Care to join me in the ugliest, sassiest, most practical and surprisingly-flattering pair of pants on the market: the khaki cropped culotte dungarees. Mine are pinstriped for extra craziness.

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

I have had a reoccurring earnest fear of floral prints every year March-June since Miranda Priestley's hard-hitting revelation. But it's July, so we're in the clear.

ROCOCO

Minimalism is so last season. I'm wearing pearls to bed and bathing in diamonds, ruffles are my new best friend and sheer layers give me the greatest pleasure. I'm learning from the best: 18th century aristocrats.

A Day In The Life: London

Raw, unedited, unabridged, unabbreviated, organic - a photo-heavy collective from my 16th birthday 4-day trip to London. It's such a whole enchilada (thesaurus.com *unedited) that it's all completely in the wrong order and some photos are upside down. PS. I included some bloopers and Snapchat screenshots, because, why not?

Breaking The Rain With Rainbow Stripes

A post dedicated to waging a war against the British weather and unabashedly seizing the so-called summer with completely temperature-inappropriate outfit choices. At least it looks summery.

11 Stylish Films I Want To Watch On The Next Rainy Day

Because it's nice to imagine a day when you might actually have time to watch a film.

I can smell the summer holidays from here. *endless free time* I'm sitting on my couch. I've just started watching Atlantis because I binge-watched 3 seasons Reign in one month - 100% recommend. The summer smells like rainbows, daisies, swirly fashion photography and sticky wet bikinis covered in sun cream. Mostly sun cream, tbh. What better way to spend  3 months than by watching endless stylish films, making lists of the beautiful clothes worn by the most beautiful, stylish characters in said films, and then maybe wearing aforementioned outfits in a dream? Bonus points if you can make the list whilst simultaneously a) watching a second film, b) maybe eating some carrot cake and c) be fluid and free.

Just to clarify, stylish films are 10x better than non-stylish films because the stylish-ness has been scientifically (unofficially-ish) proven to increase IQ. It also serves as an excellent inspiration source. High five.

The Stress Of Online Shopping

What requires 100% confidence? So many things in life ask you to be on your A game. I really feel the pressure when actually ordering clothing online. There is a huge difference between toe-dipping into and perusing the best stores' websites, and decisively clicking the checkout button. That's a major step - the clicking. The general online shopping session falls into one of two categories: you are either looking with a purpose or are wasting some time. Both are incredibly dangerous.

1) If you are looking with a purpose to find one item, imagine you then find five items. So, nobody is laughing now because you and your purse have a serious problem.

2) Imagine that, hypothetically, you are just wasting some time and then you just happen to actually find something that will change both your life and your wardrobe. What does one do?

3) Do you know what are the absolute worst things ever? Those perfectly presented, beautiful little edits and seasonal trend inspiration sections. You now feel like you absolutely are in desperate need of at least two new pairs of shoes, a casual jacket and three party skirts for the one party you have loosely pencilled into your diary.

4) I also get really stressed out in the sale section. Like, really, I'm sweating.

5) The unfortunate quandary usually only occurs when you have added everything to your basket and you think you are totally ready to checkout, but then the doubting phase kicks in. Am I even going to that party? Will I really need three different bikinis for my five day holiday? How many black ankle boots is too many? If I already have a cerulean t-shirt, would it really be that fabulous to have an azure top too?

#GirlCrush Episode 1: Emily Charlton

Following the routine viewing (it seemed about time again) of The Devil Wears Prada, I took a character quiz and, would you believe it, I am apparently practically soul sisters with Miranda Priestly. I half agree and half disagree: I have always thought of myself as more of an Emily Charlton. Who wouldn't want such a sharp-cut voice, incredible and fluent ability to deliver in the driest and most hilarious sarcasm and the most polished and chic dress sense? Yeah, exactly. So, Andrea or Emily - the major debate before Edward vs Jacob arose. Even though I have used Andy's range of better outfits as #ootd inspiration since forever; I still feel a deep appreciation and applause for Emily's career drive (she came to work when she practically had the plague), her perfected eye roll, love for fashion and self-control (when was the last time you survived on a block of cheese for three weeks - dedication).

  • 90's/80's
  • LET'S BRING ANIMAL PRINTS BACK. Beautiful faux animal prints do not deserve to be hidden in a middle-aged charity shop
